Prediction of large drop in JW numbers in 2014
by VM44 ini am going to make the prediction, here and now in mid 2006, that there will be a significant drop in the number of jehovah's witnesses in the year 2014, the one hundredth anniversary of 1914.. the only way this drop in numbers might be avoided is if the watchtower society can think up some way to stir up the rank and file and get them motivated to do more, like they did with the 1975 fiasco.. .
i doubt very much that the watchtower magazine is going to proclaim loudly in the year 2014 anything about the "generation of 1914" not passing away.. --vm44

Most JW's, especially the younger generation, are not particularly excited by all the JW.ORG buzz. The internet has been around for over 15 years already, yawn.
Most don't give a feck about their 1914 chronology. It's a social club, a community, of family and friends, like any other religion.

Don't be so naive nonjwspouse. Why do you think Al Qaeda never tried anything again. Do you know how easy it is to make and smuggle a dirty nuclear bomb onto the American mainland? Al Qaeda could have done it ages ago if they really wanted to.
If the Islamic State blew up the Whitehouse or the Pentagon or similar, the US would absolutely target Mecca.
Remember Pearl Harbour? Remember two atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
If IS tried anything like 9/11 on American soil it would be their demise, big time. And probably a third world war with Islam being the loser.

They hold the Guiness world record for the biggest charity walk and have quite a big social humanitarian programme at least in the Philippines.
Compare that to the JW's humanitarian programme (zilch!)

by why144000 inthe current state of the jws reminds me of the old joke about the father passing on an axe to his son.
he says son, this axe has been used in our family for 5 generations.
we have changed the handle a few times and twice had to put on a new blade but it is still the same axe your great grandfather used.. .

Meh, it's still the same religion fundamentally. They still teach no trinity, no immortal soul, no hellfire, paradise earth restored.....all the same core teachings Russell taught since 1879...
These core teachings are the real concept that keeps them captive. Only the Christadelphians and the Filipino Iglesia ni Cristo churches come anything close to having the same doctrinal framework.

SHOCKING elder's talk: "..when we are baptized we abdicate all responsibility to think for ourselves.."
by yadda yadda 2 ini found this recorded elder's talk (presumably genuine) quite disturbing in how he states that in order to maintain unity, jw's have given up thinking for themselves and passed over their thinking ability to the governing body.. "when you're baptized, your thinking is not your own anymore...your thinking is done for you...we carry out to the letter everything the society tells us to do..." .
his concluding statement "stop thinking for yourselves!".
there's the usual reference to the korah and those who challenged moses, but "you in the congregation are safe as long as you don't speak out against the elders and jehovah's organisation...".

Apologies if I've posted a fake elders talk, which is surprising since the author seems to be promoting orthodox Christianity so you'd think he'd be more honest (but since when were Christians any more honest than anyone else?), unless they themselves were taken in too.
In hindsight I tend to agree it's probably fake, mainly for the reason that surely no elder would specifically name Ray Franz's books to a whole congregation.
It's annoying the depths some anti-JW's will go to on the internet. They do a disservice to genuine ex-JW's who are trying to refute JW's defence that many apostates claims are fraudulent/bogus.

these creeps spend literally weeks,months or even years hoping to make a computer viruses that will get into peoples computer bios to completely destroy their computers.
they never see the peoples anger, frustration and distress.... the damage can cost each person about 1,000 [ $1,660.74 ] or more to replace a basic new laptop or tower.
